This is one of the most soothing drinks we know, introduced by our Berlin-based friend and colleague Simone Hawlish. It is perfect for a cosy night in or even to enjoy during the holidays with friends and family. Advocaat, an egg liqueur made with alcohol, eggs and sugar, can be hard to find but it is definitely worth the extra effort. If in Germany, use Eierlikör.
makes 1 serving
150 ml (2/3 cup) semi-skimmed or whole milk
5 cl advocaat (egg liqueur)
freshly grated nutmeg or cinnamon, to garnish
1. In a small saucepan, warm up the milk over medium heat, whisking occasionally. Remove from the heat.
2. Pour the advocaat into a mug. Top with the hot milk. Stir briefly.
3. Sprinkle freshly grated nutmeg or cinnamon on top. Serve.
